Q. How many cameras can be attached to the system? A. You can connect up to 8 cameras to one StreetCameras unit. top ^ Q. If I'm running different cameras other than Micromark will I need to upgrade the power supply? A. Yes you will. Most other cameras run on 12V. We supply a 9V power supply as standard. These will work fine with Micromark cameras but not with other manufactures. You can purchase 12V power supplies that deliver higher currents on our 'Order' page. top ^ Q. What type of cameras can be connected to the unit? A. The system is shipped with 1 Micromark camera. However additional higher quality cameras can be purchased via the web site. top ^ Q. Do I need to be logged in on the PC that is running the StreetCameras software or does it run as a service? A: Currently StreetCameras can only run when the user is logged in. The application runs within the System Tray. Currently the application cannot be run as a system service. top ^ Q. I want to use cameras on the StreetCameras system that don't have a 6 pin mini DIN connector. What should I do? A. Most other makes of camera either use a BNC, RCA or Scart connector with separate power. We can supply adapter cables to fit all these so they will work with the SCSU. They can be purchased from the 'Order' page on the web site. top ^ Q. Can I set-up StreetCameras to arm & disarm automatically? A: You can set times for when the system will arm and disarm automatically. It can also be done via the system software or by logging into the web site. top ^ Q. How long does the registration process take? A: Registration is a instant process that happens as soon as you have paid for your system via the web site. top ^ Q. How many fames per second can each camera capture? A. The system captures frames in real time (25 frames per second). The StreetCameras Switching Unit (SCSU)switches camera port on each frame. If your system had 8 cameras installed then you would receive 3 frames per second from each camera (25 fps divided by 8 cameras). If you only had 1 camera then the unit would be capable of capturing all 25 frames per second. top ^ Q. Will there be any future product development for Apple users? A. Currently there are no plans to develop a system for Apple Macintosh users. top ^ Q. How much hard drive space is required for Streetcameras to run? A. You can configure each camera to limit the amount of images it can save to the disk. We recommend as an absolute minimum that you have 40 megabytes of disk space free top ^ Q. What is the warranty period for the system? A. A one year warranty comes as standard. top ^ Q. Can the motion detector be used outside? A. As long as the cameras being used are designed for outdoor use then it will work. top ^ Q. What are the 'Zones' in StreetCameras terms? A. A zone is a logical name for a group of cameras e.g. Indoors, Outdoors etc. top ^ Q. Can StreetCameras pick up audio along with video? A: No, not at the moment. This may be considered for future releases. top ^ Q - I have more than 16 areas in my house I wish to monitor. Do I have to buy 2 systems in order to do this? A: Only eight cameras can be connected to one StreetCameras system. If you require more than 8 areas to be monitored, you will need to purchase a second system boxes and run it on a separate machine. top ^ Q. How far from the SCSU can the cameras be located? A. Using good quality 75ohm wiring for video and power you will be able to site cameras in excess of 70 metres. top ^ Q. Can I use wireless cameras with the system. A. Yes, these will work. You will need to follow the guidelines set out by the manufacture for maximum distances. top ^
